Adrien Broner Next Fight: Lucas Matthysse In The Running As Next Opponent? [VIDEO]

While the boxing world buzzes about a possible Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao fight in May 2015, the former "next Floyd Mayweather," Adrien Broner, is rumored to be returning to the squared circle in March.

ESPN's Dan Rafael tweeted out from Saturday night's fight card in Las Vegas featuring Amir Khan that Broner could come back to fight on March 7 of 2015, and the network carrying the fight is to be determined.

Broner's last four fights, in which he is 3-1, have been on Showtime. As the boxing "Cold War" has thawed inter-promotional fights have become easier to make. That means the spectrum of opponents for Broner is expanded.

After his latest fight, a victory over Emmanel Taylor, Broner made noise about wanting Lucas "The Machine" Matthysse next. He subsequently called out a number of fighters, including Marcos "El Chino" Maidana, who handed Broner the only loss of his career, and Manny Pacquiao.

In another interview Broner said Maidana and Matthysse in particular are scared to fight him.

"Lucas knows what's up, man. Those guys don't wanna fight me, man. Maidana don't wanna fight me again. Matthysse don't wanna fight me. They don't wanna fight me. I gave Maidana the worst fight of his life on the worst night of my life. They don't wanna see that again. And I'm healthy," Broner said.

Matthysse does not have any upcoming bouts scheduled and fought on the same card as Broner; Matthysse easily beat then-undefeated Roberto Ortiz via knockout in Round 2. He landed a perfectly-placed body shot to Ortiz's stomach and Ortiz was unable to beat the 10-count.

Maidana has also been quiet since suffering his second straight loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. this year, although he was recently called out by Keith "One Time" Thurman.
