Cruz Azul Transfer News: Roque Santa Cruz Targeted by Cruz Azul and Unnamed MLS Club

Desperate for reinforcements, Cruz Azul have set their sights on Spain. According to AS, La Maquina are one of the various clubs who have made an offer for Roque Santa Cruz. Malaga, once more dealing with interest in the Paraguayan striker, are aware there is a serious possibility he leaves in the January window.

Per the report, there is also strong interest from an unnamed MLS club.

Malaga sit seventh in the table with 27 points and are enjoying a record start to a top-flight campaign, but manager Javi Garcia understands the team has more to offer.

"The results are going well for us, but we can't just settle for that," Garcia said (via Inside Spanish Football). "We have to look at how we achieve our victories. Even though we're winning games right now, we still have much to improve. That's always the way and the best achievements are the ones I would like us to fulfil at the end of the season."

The question is: Will Cruz see those achievements through?

Cruz Azul, fresh off an embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Real Madrid at the FIFA Club World Cup, finished with a paltry 21 points in the 2014 Apertura campaign. An exit from Marco Fabian, who returns to Chivas Guadalajara off loan, leaves the club desperate in attack. Despite his age, Cruz is the serviceable talent needed in Mexico City.

The 33-year-old boasts a club-best three goals and would be the first step in Cruz Azul's return to relevancy in Liga MX.
