Kurt Busch's ex-girflfriend Patricia Driscoll filed a protection order against the driver, and on Tuesday at a hearing about the order she revealed why. Driscoll had filed a domestic assault claim against Busch in November, and the legal proceedings are still being sorted out.

According to media reports, Driscoll alleged in the domestic assault claim that Busch smashed her head against the wall of his motorhome three times on September 26. At the hearing on Tuesday, Driscoll claimed that Busch had been battling alcoholism and depression prior to the incident.
Busch's attorneys painted a different picture, indicating that Driscoll was weaving an elaborate tale and using her skills from her public relations career to ruin the driver. Driscoll leads the Armed Forces Foundation, which Busch supported while he and Driscoll were together.

Neither party's attorney would comment after the hearing.
Driscoll also testified that Busch did not want to extend his contract with Stewart-Haas Racing, the team owned by Tony Stewart, who has battled his own legal problems stemming from an August crash during a sprint race that claimed the life of Kevin Ward Jr.
Driscoll added that Busch "was angry that Tony Stewart had killed that kid and ruined his entire career," a reference to the aforementioned crash.
The hearing continued on Wednesday, and more details have yet to emerge. NASCAR CEO Brian France indicated back in November that the sport would wait for the legal process to wrap up before deciding whether to take disciplinary action against Busch.
