Of note is Toronto FC’s unseasonable opener 10 weeks into the campaign. MLS catered to the renovations being done on BMO Field, expanding capacity to 30,000. The eye-opening fixture, however, resides in Week 1.

Debutants New York City FC and Orlando City SC will take the first step in their respective histories before a capacity crowd at the Citrus Bowl. For Gary Stevenson, president and managing director of MLS Business Ventures, it’s a fixture adding to the excitement of soccer in the United States.

“The opening week of our 20th regular season will be one of the most exciting in recent memory,” Stevenson said (via MLS’s official website). “Thanks to the commitment of our broadcast partners, who have committed to delivering consistent appointment viewing, our fans will have the opportunity to see some of best athletes and match-ups in our sport today.”
