Richard Sherman vs Patrick Peterson: Seattle CB Says Cardinals' Player 'Shouldn't Be Mentioned' With Greats [VIDEO]

The Seattle Seahawks Richard Sherman is no stranger to brash pronouncements, whether it's on the field during the NFL playoffs or on screen during ESPN's First Take.

Richard Sherman Reacts To Chargers Saying They 'Exposed' Him

Sunday night's match-up between Sherman's Seahawks and the rival Arizona Cardinals has big implications for the NFC West's division race and the larger conference playoff picture as well. So, naturally, Sherman is engaged in a little pregame smack talk.

Sherman spoke disparagingly about the Cardinals' Patrick Peterson, telling NBC's Bob Costas that he doesn't consider Peterson his equal at the cornerback position.

"I think at the end of the day, the tape will speak for itself," Sherman said. "I don’t know if everybody’s compared on an even scale, and I don’t know if he should be mentioned with [the great cornerbacks in the league]. You give up eight touchdowns in a year; it’s hard to put you in that discussion.

“At any point, if I gave up that many touchdowns, I think I would be benched on our team,” Sherman added. “We have a level of accountability and that’s what we strive for. You can’t give up big plays like that and still play.”

This isn't the first time Sherman has gone after another corner back. In February 2013, he got in a well-publicized Twitter feud with Darrelle Revis, criticizing the then-New York Jets defensive back for his lack of interceptions.
