Darren Sproles' wife has a message for critics of her husband's Philadelphia Eagles, and she is not afraid to share it.
Michel Hunt-Sproles (née Hunt) posted a photo meme to Instagram on Sunday that was intended to cut down those that had taken schadenfreude at the Eagles' poor finish to close the season.
"The Eagles may not have any rings but neither do a lot of y'all moms but I don't say anything," says the pic, accompanied by a caption from Michel that reads "#Rp... But that's non of my business (sips tea)... Lol! I almost died when I saw this..."
The burn is obviously in reference to the fact that the Eagles as a franchise has still yet to win their first Super Bowl. They made appearances in 1981 and 2005, but lost on both occasions. Their last title of any sort was all the way back in 1960.
Many thought this was finally going to be the year that Philadelphia got over the hump. Chip Kelly's offense was clicking at a highly efficient pace, led by the sterling play of both Sproles and fellow running back LeSean McCoy. After a Thanksgiving beatdown of the Dallas Cowboys the Eagles were sitting with a 91 percent chance of making the postseason.
However, they lost three straight games to the Seahawks, Cowboys, and Redskins to eliminate themselves from the NFC playoff picture. Saturday's loss to Washington was especially egregious, as the Skins were coming in on a six-game losing streak, with just three wins on the season. The Eagles outgained their opponent by nearly 200 yards of total offense, but were done in by turnovers and costly penalties.
And that's how you go from visions of ticker tape parades and trips to Disney World to sparring with anonymous trolls on Instagram in just three weeks.
