Deontay Wilder Next Fight: Evander Holyfield Backs 'Bronze Bomber' Over Bermane Stiverne? [VIDEO]

A heavyweight fight that hardcore boxing fans have been clamoring for, WBC champion Bermane Stiverne vs. undefeated knockout artist Deontay "Bronze Bomber" Wilder, is scheduled for January 17, 2015. Heavyweight legend Evander Holyfield has weighed in on how he thinks the largely untested Wilder will fare.

"I think styles make a fight and I think Deontay with his reach, I think he would do better than the other guy you know," Holyfield said of Wilder. "He [Stiverne] can take shots and stuff like that I just think force, boxing ability, Kilitshcko may have too much for him. But with Deontay I think being young and scrappy, you know when people been fighting a long time they don't like fast-paced fights."

Wilder will enter the ring with a flawless 32-0-0 mark that includes 32 consecutive knockouts. While the power is undeniable, Wilder's been criticized for a weak level of competition being a major reason not only for his rise, but for his ability to consistently register knockouts. In fact, Wilder has never been past the fourth round of any pro fight.

Stiverne's camp has exuded supreme confidence throughout the tense negotiations between the two sides, with the champion and his people insisting they will expose Wilder as a fraud. His manager Camille Estephan recently lobbed another verbal grenade at Wilder, mocking him for having his rise through the ranks.

"We believe [Wilder] is a choreographed career, very well done. Good job but I believe Wilder will quickly realize that fighting at this level is a whole different universe," Estephan said.

"But by then, it will be too late for him. Bermane will make a statement. Don't blink, guys. I really hope all the fans on this planet get to realize who the new Mike Tyson is."
