Aaron Hernandez Murder Case Update: Trial Expectations Leaked By Prosecution, Time Frame For Decision On Odin Lloyd Killing

Prosecutors looking to put former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez away for the killing of a former associate named Odin Lloyd, a 27-year-old semipro football player, expect a decision from the jury in this case to make a decision six to 10 weeks from the trial's start.

The jury selection process is slated to begin January 9, 2015, and may take up to 10 days. According to previous reports Judge Susan E. Garsh has requested that 1,000 potential jurors be brought in to fill out questionnaires; more recently Hernandez's defense team expressed concern about "thrill seekers" lying to get themselves on the case in an effort to write a tell-all book about the trial. Together, the prosecution and defense have submitted a combined 70 questions they want asked of potential jurors.

Because of concerns about the thrill-seekers Hernandez's attorneys wanted to question potential jurors individually, as well as reserve the right to reject 30 jurors without reason-both of those requests were denied by Judge Garsh per ESPN.

The prosecution revealed that they anticipate calling about 45 witnesses to testify during the proceedings out of a possible 300 or so names on the witness list. Some of those names include Hernandez's former head coach Bill Belichick, Patriots owner Robert Kraft, and ex-teammates from both his college team, the Florida Gators, as well as the Patriots.

Judge Garsh also ruled recently that another upcoming trial, in which Hernandez is accused of murdering two men after an altercation in a Boston nightclub in 2012, is not fair game in the Lloyd trial.
