Arizona Cardinals Depth Chart: Drew Stanton To Start In Playoffs? '85 Percent' Chance Injured QB Plays First Postseason Game [VIDEO]

When the Arizona Cardinals play their first playoff game since 2009 in January, Drew Stanton may be under center despite dealing with a right knee injury.

The Cardinals (11-4) have clinched a playoff berth and will go without Stanton when they visit the San Francisco 49ers (7-8) in their regular season finale on Sunday. The Seattle Seahawks (11-4) host the St. Louis Rams (6-8) on that same night with the NFC West up in the air.

Arizona is likely headed to a wild-card game next week, but a win on Sunday and a Seahawks loss could net them the No. 1 or No. 2 seed depending on the result of the Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions game.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said on Sirius XM radio Tuesday that Stanton has an "85 percent" chance of suiting up under center if Arizona plays a wild-card game next week despite his knee issues.

"He's going to practice some this week, and we'll see how he goes," Arians said, according to ESPN. "Do not plan on playing him this week unless it was absolutely necessary."

With Stanton on the shelf Sunday, Arians is handing the offense over to rookie Logan Thomas, though he has Ryan Lindley waiting in the wings if needed.

"You got to turn over every stone going into the playoffs," Arians said. "It doesn't have anything to do with how Ryan played last week. I need to find out what Logan can do going into the playoffs."

Stanton took over the starting job for the Cardinals after incumbent signal caller Carson Palmer suffered a season-ending torn ACL on Nov. 9, just two days after signing a three-year $50 million extension with the team.

Stanton, 30, is 132-for-240 (55 percent) thus far this season for 1,711 yards with seven touchdowns and five interceptions through nine games.

While Stanton will sit out this week, it is possible that he will be under center come January.

Arizona will be in the playoffs for the first time since 2009, when the team won the NFC West and defeated the Green Bay Packers in the opening round in overtime before falling to the New Orleans Saints in the divisional round.
