Per the reports, Torres wants to rescind his contract with Chelsea and sign with his former club.

The Spanish international spent seven seasons with Madrid, finishing with 82 goals in 214 appearances. His meteoric rise led to a then record transfer fee from Liverpool (£20 million). After five years with the Reds, Torres made the jump to Chelsea.

His career plummeted from there.

With a loan spell at AC Milan failing to yield results, a return to Madrid is in the cards for the 30-year-old. President Enrique Cerezo even hinted at a possible move.

"He is not here, but that does not mean that he won't be," Cerezo told the local media on Tuesday (via the Star). "Right now, we have a great team and we believe that all the positions are well covered."

"But that does not mean that up until the last hour of Jan. 31 we won't bring someone in," he added. "We have a fantastic team that will fight for all three titles."

Torres has just one goal in 591 minutes for Milan and is thoroughly outshone by Jeremy Menez on a weekly basis. A return to Madrid will be the saving grace for a player desperate to recapture his form.
