Tonight at 10 p.m. ET, the San Jose Sharks (19-11-5, 43 points) and Los Angeles Kings (17-11-7, 41 points) clash for the second of five meetings this season live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. San Jose had a five-game winning streak snapped last time out before the Christmas break while Los Angeles has won two of its last three. The Sharks defeated the Kings in the last meeting between these two teams on Opening Night back on Oct. 8 by a 4-0 score.

San Jose sits in second place in the Pacific Division while Los Angeles is clining to the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

There is no love loss between these two clubs as the Sharks blew a 3-0 series lead to the Kings in the opening round of last year's NHL Playoffs and Los Angeles went on to win the Stanley Cup for the second time in three years and second occasion in franchise history.

The Sharks are coming off of a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the division-leading Anaheim Ducks on Monday.

San Jose has been paced by Joe Thornton this season as he has a team-best 30 points off of eight goals and 22 assists. Joe Pavelski (16 tallies, 13 helpers) and Logan Couture (13 goals, 16 assists) each rank second on the Sharks with 29 points.

The Kings are coming in off of a 4-3 loss to the Calgary Flames on Monday to close out their slate prior to the Christmas break.

Jeff Carter leads L.A. with 26 points off of 10 goals and 16 assists while Tyler Toffoli has 10 markers and 14 helpers for 24 points and Anze Kopitar has lit the lamp seven times and added 16 assists for 23 points.

Los Angeles is slated to turn to Jonathan Quick between the pipes and he is 14-8-6 with a 2.35 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage.

San Jose is likely to counter with Antti Niemi in between the pipes and he is 14-7-4 thus far with a 2.44 GAA and a .917 save percentage.
