Jameis Winston Rumors: Perception Of Him Is 'False,' Winston Calls Himself 'Dependable & Accountable' [VIDEO]

Jameis Winston has made a lot of headlines this year for negative reasons, but the embattled quarterback is adamant that the public perception of him is wrong. As he prepares to face the Oregon Ducks in the first ever college football playoff, he shared his thoughts about who he really is versus how the general public views him.

Although he was recently cleared of any wrongdoing at a conduct hearing for his long-running sexual assault case, many in the public still hold the mere accusation against Winston and view it as a reflection of poor character. Then other incidents like his theft of crab legs and his expletive-laced rant while standing on a table carry more weight than they might because people already have a negative image of the young man.

Winston understands all of that, but he maintains that it is not the real him. According to ESPN, Winston wants to prove that he is a "good guy" and repair his image. "People always can bring up old things but now I'm doing what I do," Winston said. "I'm a loving person -- I'm loving my teammates.

"I'm dependable. I'm accountable. I can't show out to the world that I'm that guy because you're not in the locker room and a lot of people don't know me for who I am."

Winston also added, "Perception is reality but perceptions can also be false."

Winston insists that he is fully focused on preparing for Oregon despite the fact that it could be his final collegiate game if the Seminoles lose and he elects to declare for the NFL draft.

"I can't worry about the past, I can't worry about the future," Winston said. "I've got to be where my feet are and keep working every day to become a better person and a better football player and a better teammate."
