Kurt Angle and the WWE weren't able to agree to terms for a reunion when he became a free agent, though just because he's returning to TNA it doesn't mean the "Olympic Hero" won't be affiliated with the WWE in the future.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, there is still a feeling backstage within the WWE that once Angle is done and retired from the ring, he will likely be hired as a coach for the WWE's developmental program NXT, which is showcased on the WWE Network on Thursday nights.

Several past Superstars and Divas have helped NXT talents at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando and there is a strong belief that Angle will also join that group of names down the line.

Angle re-signed with TNA after he met with the WWE and there was speculation that he may return to the company out of free agency before he ultimately decided not to.

There were reports that Angle and the WWE couldn't come to terms on a possible deal while it is also believed the organization didn't want him to come back as a wrestler while the Olympic gold medalist still wants to actively compete.

Angle will wrestle in TNA for the next couple of years, but after his in-ring career is over it's unknown what he will decide to do. The WWE seems interested in bringing Angle in as a coach once all is said and done with TNA.

Angle, 46, won an Olympic gold medal for amateur wrestling in 1996 and then eventually joined the WWE in 1999.

The former WWE Champion remained with the company until 2006 when he was granted his release to heal up his injuries.

Angle then joined TNA later that year and has been a mainstay in the company ever since.

While Angle was in limbo and rumors emerged that he may join the WWE, he decided to stay loyal to TNA and recently tweeted about his new deal with the company being official:

Angle is a four-time WWE Champion and five-time TNA Champion and while he will continue to work for TNA, the door isn't completely closed with the WWE in the future.
