Texas Rangers Rumors: 'Quietly Interested' In Cole Hamels Trade

The Philadelphia Phillies continue to seem intent on trading staff ace Cole Hamels, and they continue to insist that they will not be shortchanged in the deal. Although a few teams have been rumored to be in the mix since the beginning, new teams are being thrown into the equation as the situation progresses.

Hamels Wants To Play For Dodgers?

The latest team that is showing interest in Hamels is the Texas Rangers, although, according to CSN Philly, the team has been "quietly interested" in the pitcher all along. They are believed to be one of the four teams with the best chance at landing Hamels, along with the St. Louis Cardinals, San Diego Padres, and Boston Red Sox.

Of the four teams that are the main suitors, the Red Sox are believed to have the worst chance at landing Hamels. The team is unwilling to part with some of its best prospects, and Philadelphia is not expected to part with Hamels for anything less than multiple high-profile prospects.

Braves Dealing Kimbrel?

The Rangers have the quality prospects that it would take to land Hamels in Joey Gallo and Nomar Mazara, although it is not known if they would be willing to part ways with some of their best young hitters. The Rangers also have a promising young catcher in Jorge Alfaro, which could give them a leg up in their pursuit of Hamels. Philadelphia wants to rebuilding their defense up the middle, and they would like to get a top catching prospect back as part of any Hamels trade.
