Tiger Woods had a career worst round on Saturday in the Memorial Tournament. Woods posted his highest nine-hole score as a professional when he had an 8-over 44 on the back nine at Muirfield Village.
Players started the third round on both tees due to rain delays.
Woods made one double bogey from an awkward lie in the bunker. He chopped out of the rough on his way to a double bogey on the par-5 15th. And he couldn't navigate the slope in front of the 18th green when he made a triple bogey.
He also made bogey on the 17th hole, and he didn't make a single birdie. His previous worst nine-hole score was a 43 on three occasions, most recently at Quail Hollow in 2010.
Woods entered the third round at +1 for the tournament. He shot +2 on Friday with two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey on the 15th hole.
Woods saw his best performance of the tournament during the opening round. On Thursday, he shot a 71 for -1 par. Woods had five birdies and four bogeys, paring on the rest of the course.
For the tournament, Woods has reached the fairway 82.9 percent and the green 59.6 percent. His average drive is a distance of 289.7 yards and his average green puts have been 1.7 yards.
His longest drive is 323 yards. Woods has reached the sand 33.3 percent during the weekend tournament and currently has zero penalties.
The world's No.1 ranked golfer is coming off a successful tournament victory at The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Woods shot -5, -5, -1, -2 for each round to total -13, defeating Jeff Maggert by two strokes.
The win marked Woods' second career victory at TPC Sawgrass. His previous victory came in 2001 and he finished 40th in the tournament last year.
