Washinton Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth is headed to the clink for five days after pleading guilty to recklessly driving his Porsche on a stretch of I-495 in Virginia this past July.

Werth had been going 105 mph in a 55 zone. Virginia is notoriously famous nationwide for its strict speed limit laws. Werth was originally facing a punishment of 10 days time, but the guilty plea reduced that sentence in half.
According to the Washington Post, Werth will serve his sentence on weekends so not to interrupt his shoulder rehabilitation schedule. The 35-year-old hit .292 with 16 homers and 82 RBIs in 147 games for the Nationals last season.

"We are aware of the agreement reached today. It is clear that Jayson has taken this matter seriously and with great personal reflection," the Washington Nationals said in a prepared statement. "We do not condone reckless behavior, and we expect all members of the Washington Nationals organization to act in a responsible manner. We support Jayson, who is an integral part of the community and of the Washington Nationals family."
“[Jayson] is very involved in community,” Werth’s attorney, Michael Pritchard, told the judge before the sentencing was confirmed. “This was an aberration.”
