Seattle Seahawks' Russell Wilson's 98 MPH Pitch: Could the Seattle Mariners Be Interested in Making Him a Two-Sport Star (VIDEO)?

If the scoreboard is accurate, the Seattle Seahawks might be advised to worry about losing quarterback Russell Wilson to the Seattle Mariners.

Wilson threw out the first pitch Saturday before the Mariners' game against the New York Yankees at Safeco Field. He walked out onto the field and nonchalantly threw a pitch to home plate that read 98 miles per hour on the Safeco Field radar gun, which was later put up on the scoreboard.

The legitimacy of the speed's pitch has been questioned, and the Seattle Seahawks official twitter account posted a picture of the scoreboard's speed measurement behind the quarterback with the phrase, "We're not saying it happened. But this happened. @DangeRussWilson @RealKingFelix @Mariners #firstpitch pic.twitter.com/BfilsFvJaT."

Wilson actually was drafted in the 41st round of the Major League Baseball draft in 2007 but elected to attend North Carolina State on a football scholarship.

He did play for the Wolfpack baseball team from 2008-10 and found himself as another draft choice in the 2010 MLB draft - this time in the fourth round by the Colorado Rockies. He played 61 games in the summer of 2011 with the Asheville Tourists, the Class A affiliate of the Rockies, before he transferred from North Carolina State to Wisconsin to play football his senior season.

Wilson told the Rockies in January of 2012 that he was going to pursue a football career. The Seahawks selected him in the third round of the NFL draft, with the No. 75 pick overall.

Wilson won the starting job in 2012 and led Seattle to an 11-5 record and a wild-card spot in the NFC playoffs. The Seahawks advanced to the NFC Divisional Round of the playoffs and suffered a heartbreaking, 30-28 defeat to Atlanta after leading with 30 seconds left to play.

With the Mariners currently sitting in fourth place in the American League West, they might take a bit of a look at the Seahawks quarterback - if his arm strength is as what the scoreboard reported.
