Super Bowl 49 Results [VIDEO]: Patriots Overcome Amazing Jermaine Kearse Catch To Win 28-24

The New England Patriots are Super Bowl champions once again, after undrafted free agent cornerback Malcolm Butler made the biggest play of the game by intercepting Seahawks QB Russell Wilson on a throw from the one-yard line. The play came two snaps after Jermaine Kearse made one of the most improbable catches in Super Bowl history, reeling in a tipped pass while he was lying on his back, and helped the Pats hang on to a 28-24 win.

Tom Brady finished the game with 328 yards and four touchdowns en route to the Super Bowl MVP, the third of his career. He threw touchdowns to four different wide receivers—Brandon LaFell, Rob Gronkowski, Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman. The Patriots overcame 102 yards and a score from Marshawn Lynch, two passing touchdowns from Wilson, and one of the most memorable catches in Super Bowl history from Kearse. The stars of this game were Seahawks receiver Chris Matthews, who had four catches, 109 yards and a touchdown despite joining Seattle’s active roster in December.

Kearse’s catch was an all-timer, but so was Butler’s shocking interception two plays later.
