The Seattle Seahawks cornerback and his girlfriend, Ashley Lillian Moss, welcomed a newborn son to the family in the early hours on Thursday, February 2nd.
The boy's name is Rayden, according to NFL reporter Peter King of Sports Illustrated's MMQB.com. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll had joked to The Seattle Times during Super Bowl weekend that the parents were planning on naming the baby 'Petey.'
Sherman himself confirmed news of the child's arrival via his own Twitter account.
“My son sure does know how to make an entrance! 2/5/15… Is it a coincidence or is he just that clever?! Either way I’m ecstatic,” the 26-year-old tweeted early Thursday.

By all accounts both the baby and his mother seem to be healthy and safe following the birthing process. Moss had previously shared a photo of her baby bump while in Glendale for Super Bowl XLIX.
