Lance Armstrong Rumors: Cyclist Due in Court, Facing Jail Time After Being Charged With Hitting Parked Cars? [VIDEO]

There's hitting rock bottom, and then there's hitting parked cars. Lance Armstrong reportedly decided on the latter.

The disgraced cyclist, having seen his seven Tour de France victories stripped from his name, hit two parked cars with an SUV after a night of partying in Colorado. His girlfriend, Anna Hansen, however, initially told police that it had been her behind the wheel to avoid national headlines. She was cited with two tickets on Jan. 12 before seeing them transferred to her esteemed boyfriend.

A police report from detective Rick Magnuson details the events of Dec. 29.

"Hansen told us that she was driving home from an Aspen Art Museum party the previous night," Magnuson wrote in the police report (via the Daily Aspen News). "Hansen told me that she drove the GMC home because 'Lance had a little bit to drink, so I was driving. I was not drinking.'"

Further investigation found her story not to be true, that the couple made a "joint decision" to save whatever's left of Armstrong's name.

"I asked Hansen if Armstrong asked her to take the blame for the accident once they got home," Magnuson wrote. "She replied, 'No, that was a joint decision, and, um, you know we've had our family name smeared over every paper in the world in the last couple of years and honestly, I've got teenagers, I just wanted to protect my family because I thought, 'Gosh, Anna Hansen hit some cars, it's not going to show up in the papers, but Lance Armstrong hit some cars, it's going to be a national story.'"

Armstrong is due in court on March 17, but it not expected to serve any time if found guilty.
