WrestleMania 31 Rumors: WWE Denies Inviting Chael Sonnen To Talk At 'Show of Shows' [VIDEO]

Seemingly, former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen is NOT going to WrestleMania 31.

Sonnen told TSN's Off the Record that the WWE invited him and fellow former fighter Wanderlei Silva to attend WrestleMania 31 weekend in Santa Clara, Calif. for exclusive talks with the company.

WWE has since released a statement in response to Sonnen's claims on the show, saying that he has not been invited by the company to attend the "Show of Shows."

"There has been no invitation from WWE for Chael Sonnen to attend WrestleMania," the company said in a statement, according to Wrestlingheadlines.com.

Sonnen claimed on OTR that the WWE invited him and Silva out for talks, but he wouldn't specify what the conversation would be about. He also claimed that the WWE was personally flying him out and giving him a ticket to either the Hall of Fame or WrestleMania 31.

The 2015 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony takes place on March 28 at the SAP Center in San Jose while WrestleMania 31 emanates the following night at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.

Shawn Michaels Shares Interesting Stories About Rough Past In Prime of Career

WWE has just reached a partnership with MMA apparel company Tapout, which added intrigue to the story.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer noted that the WWE has wanted to work with Sonnen for some time, which laid credence to the rumors before the company snuffed them out.

The WWE has been linked to Sonnen in the past, but backed off after he tested positive for steroids. The organization wanted to wait until the news died down and after ESPN worked with the former UFC fighter, the company reportedly was open to it again.

The report adds that Sonnen was also a possible candidate to take over some announcing duties for the company.

While Sonnen claims he will be at WrestleMania 31, the WWE seems to have other plans.
