According to MSN, Little League International has decided to strip Jackie Robinson West of the title they won last summer during the LLWS. There had been allegations that the team fielded ineligible players, and those allegations were discovered to be true following an investigation.

Last summer, the all-black team captivated the nation as the children, whose ages range from 11 to 13, made a surprising run all the way to the LLWS championship. The investigation into the team revealed that the team had changed its boundaries to allow ineligible players to be part of the squad.

"This is a heartbreaking decision," Stephen D. Keener, the Little League International president and CEO, said in a statement.

"As painful as it is, we feel it is a necessary decision to maintain the integrity of the Little League program. No team can be allowed to attempt to strengthen its team by putting players on their roster that live outside their boundaries."

The team is suspended from Little League activities until new leadership is found. The team's manager is also suspended, and the administrator from the district in charge of Jackie Robinson West has been let go.

The investigation started back in October, and it appeared to end in December. However, it was reopened after new information surfaced.

"Little League International ... learned that Jackie Robinson West Little League knowingly expanded its boundaries to include territory that belonged to other leagues in the district without the approval from the other leagues or the Little League International Charter Committee" and used the "falsified boundary map for their 2014 tournament," the organization said.

This is the third time that an LLWS champion has been stripped of its title.
