'WrestleMania 31' Rumors: Paul Heyman To Turn On Brock Lesnar To Join Roman Reigns? [VIDEO]

The WWE has a bit of a problem on its hands as the WWE Universe has continuously booed Roman Reigns ahead of his big match against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31.

While it is possible that Daniel Bryan could unseat Reigns as No. 1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania or be added to make it a triple threat match, the WWE has had plans for a Lesnar vs. Reigns one-on-one battle for some time and there is no clear reason to believe that it won't happen.

So what does the WWE do with their hand-picked next top babyface if the WWE Universe continues to reject Reigns being fed to them?

Turn him heel.

Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman Guy.

Heyman has been the manager of Brock Lesnar for several years, but he's also turned on his client and proven to be untrustworthy in the past.

If the WWE is worried about their top face being booed against a heel Lesnar at WrestleMania 31 on March 29 at Levi's Stadium in California, it can always just pull off a double switch.

Double switches are rare in wrestling, but when done correctly they tell a compelling story. Just look at what happened when Bret "Hitman" Hart and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin switched alignments at WrestleMania 13 in a classic match that seemingly saved the show.

The WWE could have Heyman turn on Lesnar in the build toward WrestleMania 31, joining Reigns and making him a heel and Lesnar a babyface by proxy.

This way, if the WWE Universe boos Reigns at WrestleMania, at least he is getting boos rained down on him as a heel and not a babyface.

Lesnar, meanwhile, can become a sympathetic figure and the fans can rally behind him after his impressive year-long run as a heel.

This could be farfetched, as the WWE is looking to build up a next big star as a babyface to be the successor of John Cena, so a Reigns heel turn would spoil that, but it is worth at least exploring.

The other option would be for a babyface Reigns to have his moment only to have a heel Seth Rollins -- his former Shield partner -- crash his party by cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase and winning the gold to set up a compelling storyline between the two young Superstars.

Another element in this plan could be Bryan, but it's unknown if the WWE will actually pull the trigger on adding him to the match by replicating WrestleMania XXX.

The WWE is running the risk of having Reigns get booed by thousands of people at Levi's Stadium, but there could be a light at the end of the tunnel if they turn him heel and align him with Heyman heading into WrestleMania 31
