Michael Sam, Dancing With the Stars: Openly Gay NFL Player Appearing On Reality TV Series In 2015 [VIDEO]

Michael Sam has already demonstrated that he can shed blockers on the football field, but can he do a two step on the dance floor?

CFL A Potential Fallback Plan For Michael Sam's Football Aspirations

Fans of the mega-popular reality TV series Dancing With The Stars are about to find out. Sam, the former St. Louis Ram and Dallas Cowboy, and the first openly gay player in NFL history, has just inked a deal to appear on the dance competition's last season in 2015.

News of the 25-year-old's joining the cast was first reported by TMZ Sports. The new season, the show's twentieth, begins in earnest next month.

Sam's spot on the show might create at least one conflict with the defensive end's stated goal of breaking back into the NFL. The league's veteran combine is scheduled for March 22, and Sam would almost certainly have to put on a stellar performance for a chance at a full time roster spot.

Michael Sam might not be the only football player gracing the cast of the newest Dancing With The Stars season. New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is also reportedly fielding an offer to appear on the show this year.
