An English Premier League soccer star has been arrested on allegations of having sex with an underage girl.

Three police cars bearing both plainclothes officers and a forensics team arrived at the County Durham estate of Sunderland winger Adam Johnson early Monday morning, according to The Mirror.
"You could tell they were police officers,” one of Johnson’s neighbors said. “They were all dressed in black.”
Although a Durham Police spokesperson refrained from referring to the soccer star by name, they did release a statement.
"A 27 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual activity with a girl aged under 16. He remains in police custody,” it reads.

Johnson has been playing for Sunderland since 2012, and leads the squad with five goals this season. Prior to his time with the Black Cats, he spent two years and change with Manchester City.
Johnson has also been a member of England’s national soccer team since 2010, and competed in two World Cups.
The name of the underage girl Johnson is alleged to have slept with was not named.
