Oh, Colin Kaepernick, where have you gone?
Days after a report came out about how nice the San Francisco 49ers quarterback used to be when he attended the University of Nevada, another report has surfaced that describes Kaepernick as the former Big Man on Campus at his high school as well.

The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat reported of a man claiming to be a high school classmate at John H. Pitman High School in Turlock, Calif., telling a reporter of the off-the-field virtues of Kaepernick during his prep career.
The classmate "said Kaepernick was famous in school," Press-Democrat reporter Lowell Cohn wrote. "He was a great baseball player in addition to being a great football player. A star. None of that went to his head. A regular kid at school. Very well brought up. Everyone liked him. No one resented him. He was popular to the max."

The classmate added that he took AP classes together. " 'He was awesome.' That was a direct quote," Cohn added.
"I never have seen the need for Kaepernick's blatant boredom or condescension (with the media). Or the need for the total Colin package which exudes contempt and - old-fogey notion here - bad manners.
"The young guy I met in Arizona never had seen Colin act that way, not in person. But he had seen his high-school classmate on TV. He was puzzled by the behavior. Had no explanation for it. The guy on TV is not the friendly, exuberant, admirable Colin the guy grew up with."
Then again, the younger Kaepernick was not being told by complete strangers that his abs workouts were not going to help his passing skills.
The Press Democrat story was similar to the Nevada Appeal column lamenting about the personable Kaepernick who starred for the Nevada Wolf Pack having transformed into the defensive, anti-media quarterback with the San Francisco 49ers.
"That guy wearing No. 7 even looks like the former Wolf Pack quarterback," the Appeal wrote. "But then I hear No. 7 mumble, grunt and growl at the media, wearing headphones and a baseball cap pulled down over his eyebrows and I read his sarcastic, how-dare-you-criticize-me ramblings on Twitter and, well, it just can't be the same Colin Kaepernick who played for the Wolf Pack."
