Report: Allen Iverson Given 72 Hours To Pay $71,000 In Child Support Or Go To Jail

An Atlanta judge has ordered former NBA star be Allen Iverson immediately jailed if he does not pay off $71,000 in back child support payments over the next 72 hours.

According to BlackSportsonline.com, the judge ruled Iverson in contempt of court after his ex-wife told the judge he told her he had no intentions of making good on the court-mandated payments even though he only recently received a check for mote $450,000.

The website reported Iverson admitted as much to the judge, who then wasted little time in handing down her order and making the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office well aware of it.

After Iverson also reportedly told the judge that he had consumed alcohol “maybe twenty” times recently, including during times with his children, and that he had not taken any therapy sessions or attended any Alcoholic Anonymous meetings and had no plans to do so, she furthered order officers to take him into custody for a minimum of five days if he does not do so within the next 72 hours.

It’s been a tumultuous last few weeks for the former league MVP, who only days before was accused by his ex of having abducted their five children. Iverson denied the claims and turned the kids back over to her over the last several days.
