An arrest was made Saturday linked to the burglary at the home of Oklahoma head coach Bob Stooops that took place early Wednesday morning. Corey McCarty, 21, was arrested at 6:26 a.m. in Norman, Okla., and charged with first-degree burglary, according to the Cleveland County Detention Center.
McCarty is also facing charges of possession of stolen property, larceny of a motor vehicle and use of a stolen credit card for his actions during and after the incident. Authorities are still investigating for a second suspect in the burglary.
The police released surveillance footage on Friday evening that shows two suspects at the scene of the crime.
The Stoops family were asleep when the burglarizing occurred early Wednesday, according to police. No one was injured during the incident, but a vehicle and several other possessions were stolen.
Stoops is one of the most decorated current coaches in college football. He holds a 149-37 head coaching record, all of which came with the Sooners since his hire in 1999. Stoops also owns a 7-7 bowl game record, including a victory in the 2000 BCS national championship.
Stoops has won numerous awards during his Oklahoma tenure, including two Walter Camp Coach of the Year Awards (2000, 2003), a Paul "Bear" Bryant Award (2000), a the Home Depot Coach of the Year Award (2000), an AP Coach of the Year Award (2000) and a bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award (2003). He has also been named the Big-12 Coach of the Year three times (2000, 2003, 2006).
