Adrian Peterson Cowboys Rumors: Dallas Planning To Trade For Vikings RB? [VIDEO]

The Dallas Cowboys have been dealing with rumors and suggestions from fans and the media all offseason about how they should handle the free agency of star running back DeMarco Murray. So far, it appears that they have largely ignored the issue, and it looks likely that Murray will wear a different uniform in 2015 (probably Philadelphia's).

But did Jerry Jones and the Cowboys have a Plan B that was really a Plan A all along? According to Larry Brown Sports, the Cowboys may actually be planning to try and swing a trade for Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson.

Peterson is known to want out of Minnesota, which is a message he conveyed to the Vikings' front office during a face-to-face meeting earlier this week. The team has publicly said that they want to keep Peterson, but many sources - including Peterson's father - think the club may just be saying that in an effort to boost his trade value.

DeMarco Murray Joining Forces With Chip Kelly Against The Cowboys?

If Peterson leaves Minnesota with no choice but to release or trade him, they would surely try to get something for their star back over simply letting him walk away.

While it is unclear what a trade market for Peterson could look like, it seems unlikely that many teams want to shell out eight figures per year for a 30-year-old running back.

However, if Peterson were willing to restructure his contract, that could entice more teams to pull the trigger.

As for Dallas, they may have been waiting for the Murray saga to play out before making other moves, but now that it looks like their leading rusher from 2014 will be gone, they may start pursuing Peterson.

If the Cowboys were unwilling to pay to keep Murray, then they almost surely do not want Peterson's giant contract, so they may elect to try and wait out the Vikings, hoping that the team is forced to release Peterson, which would allow Dallas to sign him for far less money.
