UAB upset Iowa State with a 60-59 victory on Thursday to get here while UCLA topped SMU by the same score that same afternoon.
Robert Brown paced the Blazers in their last win with 21 points while William Lee notched 14 of his own and a team-best 12 rebounds.
Bryce Alford, who hit a game-winning 3-pointer following a questionable goaltending call, guided the Bruins with 27 points in the win while Norman Powell added 19.

Brown is happy to be going head-to-head with UCLA no matter how they advanced.
"We do have a little payback for them, and we want to play them," Brown told ESPN.
UCLA is also excited to clash with UAB as both teams had big wins just to get to this point.
"We know they're a great team," UCLA Powell said per ESPN. "We know we're a great team. So it's going to be fun to play them again."
Brown guided the Blazers in the regular season with an average of 13.1 points per game while Powell notched 16.4 points per game to pace the Bruins in 2014-15 campaign.
March Madness continues when UAB and UCLA go head-to-head this afternoon in Kentucky.
