Los Angeles Dodgers Rumors: Hyun-Jin Ryu 'Not Too Concerned' With Shoulder Injury, Expects Return Soon [VIDEO]

Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu will start the 2015 season on the disabled list, but he said he "wasn't too worried" about an MRI on his shoulder.

MLB.com reports that doctors discovered no new damage to Ryu's shoulder after he underwent an MRI on it. Ryu received a cortisone shot 10 days ago, but felt stiffness in his shoulder when he attempted to play catch earlier this week.

"I wasn't too worried," Ryu said of the MRI, according to MLB.com. "It's very similar pain to last year."

Ryu was shut down twice last season due to similar discomfort and while he'll miss the beginning of the 2015 campaign and likely won't reach his goal of pitching 200 innings, the southpaw has a positive attitude about the injury.

"Now I'm just focusing on the two weeks and get my condition back and get my arm in shape," Ryu said of his mentality.

Los Angeles opens up the 2015 slate against the revamped division rival San Diego Padres on April 6 without Ryu at Dodger Stadium, but he isn't expected to miss a lot of time.

The Dodgers said the MRI on Ryu showed nothing different than the one they took in 2012 when they signed the left-hander, so any damage that was previously there has been there for years.

Ryu is Los Angeles' projected third starter behind reigning NL MVP and Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke and has been a key part of the team's success the last two seasons.

Ryu, 27, went 14-7 in 2014 with a 3.38 ERA and is 28-15 with a 3.17 ERA through two seasons in the MLB.

Ryu helped the Dodgers to a 94-68 record in 2014 that saw them clinch the NL West for the second consecutive season before the team fell to the St. Louis Cardinals in a disappointing four-game performance in the NLDS.
