Manchester City Transfer News: Real Madrid Prepared to Sign Sergio Aguero

April Fool's Day has come and gone, but that didn't stop the rumor mill from churning out implausible transfers on Thursday.

Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez Being Monitored by AC Milan

According to Le 10 Sport (via Goal Transfer Talk), Real Madrid are prepared to sign Sergio Aguero if the club lets go of Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez and Karim Benzema. Per the report, the club has been interested in the Argentine for years.

Admittedly, the departure of Hernandez is all but certain at this point. Cadena COPE journalist Melchor Ruiz revealed in March that a source close to the club has told him Madrid regret contracting the Mexican international.

"They [Real Madrid] acknowledge they could have been wrong about him after what he has contributed," Ruiz told the 'El Partido de las 12' programme (via Yahoo Sport). "It has not been good for the player how the season has gone. They also believe it wasn't necessary to sign him, as he has not had many minutes."

Benzema's departure, however, is the one domino that will not fall.

A favorite of president Florentino Perez, Benzema is an integral part of Madrid's front line and the No. 9 required to work alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. Always looking to combine with two of the game's greats, the 27-year-old is second only to Ronaldo with nine assists.

By comparison, Aguero has never finished a league campaign in his career with more than eight. A true No. 9, the 26-year-old is merely a more polished version of Gonzalo Higuain, who Real Madrid sold to Napoli in 2013 to solidify Benzema's place.

Few clubs would turn down a talent like Aguero, but barring a change in philosophy and tactics, it's best Madrid do this summer.
