Serena Williams Legacy: Can No. 1 Player Win All Four Grand Slams in 2015? [VIDEO]

Before her Miami Open finals match against Serena Williams, Carla Suarez Navarro talked about the desire of becoming No. 1 in the world.

And then proceeded to win just two games against the current No. 1 player in the world.

Maria Sharapova insists she is still aiming to defeat Serena Williams

Women's tennis is Williams' world and all the other players are trying to live in it. Williams' 6-2, 6-0 victory over Suarez Navarro marked her eighth title in Miami.

Tennis.com, which reported on Suarez Navarro's desires, also pointed out that she played against Williams as if she didn't have the faintest belief that she could beat Serena. According to USA TODAY Sports' For the Win, only Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert had won an individual event as many as eight times before Williams joined them over the weekend.

Serena Williams has both Maria Sharapova and Simona Halep psyched out?

Both For the Win and Tennis.com pointed out that Williams now has started the 2015 season with an 18-0 record heading into the clay-court season.

And with the Australian Open title already under her belt, Williams now is quickly being mentioned as a serious candidate for a Grand Slam sweep in 2015.

"The "G" word (Grand Slams) is always mentioned after a man and a woman win the Australian Open, as the possibilities instantly drop from any player to just two," For the Win reported. "But for Serena, it might be as doable as ever, even if she's gone 1R, WIN, 2R in her last three years in Roland Garros. I don't know - this year feels different. Serena is healthy, confident and her goals (catching Steffi with 22 Slams and, possibly, a Grand Slam) are looking more and more feasible."

World's No. 2 Maria Sharapova is now completing her 11th winless year against Williams, having been unable to put up much resistance in the Australian Open final.

Simona Halep, the No. 3 player, pushed Williams to the brink during their Miami Open semifinal in Williams' 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 victory. It was Halep's never-say-die attitude that kept in in the match after it looked as though Williams would win in straight sets.

But as well as Halep competed, there never was a doubt as to who the better player was.

Halep defeated Williams 6-0, 6-2 in the round-robin portion of last year's WTA Finals, but in the championship match, Williams beat Halep 6-3, 6-0.

Now as Williams enters the clay-court season, she assumes the undefeated-projected mantle for 2015 that the Kentucky Wildcats vacated after their loss to Wisconsin in the NCAA men's basketball tournament semifinals.
