Derek Jeter Retirement Update: 'The Captain' Doesn't Miss Baseball At All?

Derek Jeter became the latest player to enjoy a season-long farewell tour when he announced prior to the 2014 season that it would be his final one as a major league baseball player. The future Hall of Famer received warm welcomes and many gifts at every stadium that he visited, and the Yankees had only great things to say about one of the franchise's best players.

In retirement, Jeter has been pursuing some other business ventures, as many athletes often do. He has started a media platform known as The Players' Tribune that aims to provide a space where athletes can share about their thoughts and experiences during life as a professional. He is also attempting to open a restaurant to expand his business operations.

Apparently his new ventures (undoubtedly along with dating Hannah Davis) are proving to provide quite a fulfilling life for Jeter. With many athletes, the start of a new season soon after their retirement brings about nostalgia and
"the itch" to suit up once again.

That does not seem to be the case for Jeter.

It could be just a simple case that he has not had time to distance himself from the game enough yet. He spent the offseason promoting the game in Japan and other places around the globe, so maybe he doesn't miss it because he still feels connected.

On the other hand, he would hardly be the first athlete to go on to lead a fulfilling post-sports life and have no regrets about when and how he walked away from the game. If that is indeed the case, then good for him.
