Denver Broncos Rumors: Peyton Manning Could Clash With Gary Kubiak

The Denver Broncos have had a relatively quiet offseason outside of losing a few key players through free agency. Despite the losses, the team still has a wealth of talent, and they are hoping to be able to make a return trip to the Super Bowl with the help of the new coaching staff.

Of course, changing out the coaching staff also means changing schemes and systems. And while every good coach will work to tailor their system to the personnel that they have on the roster, they all still want to do things in the way that they see fit. For most rosters, this poses little or no issue; in Denver, it could because of the presence of Peyton Manning, who is basically a coach on the field anyway.

According to CBS Sports, Manning and Kubiak have already starting working together on what the Denver offense will look like. Each is known for being successful in their own style of approach, but combining the two schools of thought could prove to be a challenge.

"Crossing the schemes, so to speak, was very, very easy. It was really more about verbiage than anything else. What I tried to do is the things that were very close, I tried to hang on to the verbiage that they had been talking here in the past, because I think that made it easier for the players," Kubiak said. "The things that were new, we hung on to the verbiage that I used throughout my career."

Denver fans have to feel relieved to hear that kind of talk from the coach at this point in the season, but it remains to be seen what will happen when the games start to count.

If the team struggles out of the gate, it could set the stage for a philsophical power struggle between Manning, who prefers a pass-heavy up-tempo attack, and Kubiak, who prefers to control the clock and put together long, clock-draining drives with the run game.
