Tony Romo Disses Tom Brady? Cowboys QB Makes Deflategate Joke on CMAs [VIDEO]

Tony Romo knows how to work a hometown crowd during the offseason, even if it is at the expense of a rival NFL quarterback and team.

CBSSports.com reported that the Dallas Cowboys quarterback made a guest appearance on the Academy of Country Music awards show that took place at the Cowboys' AT&T Stadium on Sunday night.

As country music stars Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan introduced the Cowboys quarterback, Romo came out, holding a football. Before Romo got into his spiel, Bryan put on some Dallas Cowboys wide receiver gloves, and Shelton asked Romo to throw the ball to Bryan.

After Romo hit Bryan with the pass, Shelton asked, "This isn't one of them deflated balls, is it?"

"Blake, we're the Dallas Cowboys," Romo replied. "We have real balls."

The joke was aimed at the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots and quarterback Tom Brady over "Deflategate," which took place after the Patriots' 45-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship game.

Several of the Patriots balls were deemed under-inflated, and a Patriots locker-room attendant was deemed a "person of interest" in the investigation.

The league checked 11 of the 12 Patriots football used and declared that 11 were under the league-mandated air pressure of 12.5 pounds per square inch. Both Brady and New England coach Bill Belichick said they had no knowledge that the footballs were out of compliance or how they got that way.

Whether Romo checked with Brady or the Patriots before going on air with the joke is unknown, but if he didn't, the next time he meets up with the Patriots on the field could be an interesting one.

In the meantime, New England will just have to take solace in its fourth Super Bowl ring while Romo still has not guided the Cowboys to the season's biggest game.
