Washington Redskins Rumors: RG3 Doesn't Care If His Option For 2016 Is Picked Up [VIDEO]

That Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins have had a rockey relationship is undeniable. Whether that relationship is unsalvagable, however, remains to be seen.

RG3 Responds To His Social Media Trolls

RG3 arrived in D.C. to much fanfare and immediate success, but a brutal ACL injury and subsequent ineffective play has rendered his tenure a disappointment overall. Griffin clashed with first-year head coach Jay Gruden in 2014, and was benched on numerous occasions over the course of the season.

In less than a month, Washington will have to decide whether to pick up Griffin's option for 2016. Doing so will commit $16 million dollars to a player who has looked like he's worth less than half that amount in the past two seasons. Refusing to pick it up, however, runs the risk of him leaving in free agency a year early.

Robert Griffin: It's Not My Job To Judge Jay Gruden

Griffin was asked by NFL.com about his contract situation recently, and he saw fit to comment as a straight-shooter.

“I wouldn’t be bummed," Griffin said. "Either way, we’re going out there to prove it this upcoming year — not next year. I just want to win. I want to win games and have fun doing it. The rest will take care of itself. They can pick up the option — or they can decide not to pick up the option. It’ll work out either way. I’m focused on this year.”
