New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz can't seem to remain committed to his feelings.
Eight days after signing a six-year, $46 million contract to remain with the Giants and saying how good he felt about the deal, Cruz on Tuesday complained to Sirius XM that he deserves more money.
"I'm not going to lie, it's tough. It's tough," Cruz told Sirius, as originally reported by Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News. "When you understand from a numbers standpoint, and the numbers you put up you feel like deserve a certain amount of money."
Cruz explained that he was happy playing in New York, which is why he signed the contract in the first place.
"You ask yourself 'Would you want to play for this amount in New York and play in the best city in the world and play football, and -- I'm a hometown kid -- be close to home and your mom and your family?" he said in the radio interview. "Or do you want to take a big pay day and go somewhere like Kansas City or Minnesota where your family might not be able to come as often as you want and you're living in a city you're not too familiar with and it's an adjustment for you?' "
The quote is a far cry from what he reportedly said when he signed his deal on July 8.
"It was fun to finally get it done with," Cruz said, according to ESPN.com. "I was smiling from ear to ear the whole time; I couldn't stop grinning. Good to put my ink on that piece of paper and feel good about it and feel confident about it and get back to football."
Apparently he didn't feel as good about it as he originally let on.
Cruz already has made waves in the public sector after he tweeted on the George Zimmerman verdict, saying, "Thoroughly confused. Zimmerman doesn't last a year before the hood catches up to him."
Cruz quickly apologized, saying, "In the moment, when it happened, I'm not going to lie, I was a little angry."
