Philadelphia Eagles Rumors: Sam Bradford Trade Looming? Marcus Mariota Chase Could Lead To QB Divorce [VIDEO]

For being a player with a "damaged goods" label, Sam Bradford has been quite popular in 2015.

Profootballtalk.nbcsports.com is reporting that the Philadelphia Eagles have not yet entered contract negotiation talks with the former No. 1 NFL draft pick, speculating that the Eagles still may dangle him as trade bait in hopes of landing Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota in next week's draft.

Cleveland Browns switch QB focus from Sam Bradford to Marcus Mariota?

"Per a source with knowledge of the situation, no meaningful talks have occurred," Profootballtalk.nbcsports.com reported.

"The failure of the Eagles to make a significant effort to extend Bradford's stay has sparked speculation in league circles that Bradford could indeed be traded again, even though coach Chip Kelly insisted that Bradford won't be used as a bargaining chip."

Cleveland Browns to trade Johnny Manziel to Eagles for Sam Bradford?

It does seem to be an odd notion that the Eagles would have acquired Bradford from the Rams simply as a bargaining chip unless they really believe that the Cleveland Browns would be willing to part with at least one of their first-round draft picks to obtain the rights to the former Oklahoma QB.

The Eagles traded a quarterback with more of a proven track record in the NFL in Nick Foles to get Bradford. Foles had a monster 2013 season with Philadelphia. None of the years Bradford has played - and he has been injured for the last two - could be considered a "monster year."

But if Bradford isn't a bargaining chip, why haven't the Eagles made any attempt to restructure his contract to lower his salary cap value in 2015? According to NFL.com, Bradford is scheduled to make just less than $13 million this season, which is eye-popping considering Bradford's body of work.

The Eagles aren't facing any immediate time constraints in entering talks with Bradford on a new deal, but the fact that they haven't even begun the process adds to the confusion over Bradford's immediate future.
