Rollins defeated Randy Orton in a Steel Cage Match after hitting him with an RKO and escaping the cage to retain the gold.

Kane, who was the guardian of the gate, got physically involved in the match. J&J Security tried to attack Orton all match long, but he was able to thwart them off. Kane then came in an chokeslammed both "The Viper" and "The Architect," putting Rollins on top of Orton.

Orton was able to kick out, but eventually Rollins would hit him with the RKO -- which Orton was banned from using per the pre-match stipulation -- to win his first high-profile title defense since shocking the world at WrestleMania 31.

John Cena was also successful in defending his United States Championship against Rusev in a Russian Chain Match. Both men battled to touch the fourth corner, and the "Cenation" leader came out on top after hitting the "Bulgarian Brute" with an Attitude Adjustment.

The mighty Russian kicked Lana out of the ringside area during the bout after she acknowledged the adulation she was getting from the fans. The Ravishing Russian later talked to The Authority and got Rusev a rematch with Cena at Payback next month, this time in an I Quit Match.

Another title-holder who was successful Sunday night was Nikki Bella as she came out on top of her Divas Championship match with Naomi. Bella toppled Naomi after Brie Bella kicked her in the head, leading to a Rack Attack.

There are new WWE Tag Team Champions as The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Big E) defeated Cesaro & Tyson Kidd after everything broke down with Xavier Woods and Natalya getting involved and Kingston used a distraction to roll up Kidd and pin him.

Elsewhere, Roman Reigns defeated The Big Show in a Last Man Standing Match after he hit him with a spear from one announce table to the other and turned the desk over on Show, trapping him underneath.

Extreme Rules opened up with a Chicago Street Fight between Dean Ambrose and Luke Harper that saw the two disappear in a car. The duo eventually returned to the arena and Ambrose won by hitting Dirty Deeds on a bunch of steel chairs.

Elsewhere, Dolph Ziggler overcame Sheamus in a Kiss Me Arse Match after surprising him with a small package for the pinfall. After the bout, "The Celtic Warrior" attacked "The Showoff" rather than abiding by the stipulation.

On the pre-show, Neville defeated Bad News Barrett with the Red Arrow. Barrett was supposed to face Daniel Bryan for the Intercontinental Championship, but the contest was canceled because Bryan wasn't medically cleared to compete.
