Jon Jones Next Fight: 'Bones' Returned To Scene, Grabbed Cash And Fled Again; Cops Found Pot & Pipe

The future of UFC 187, set for May 23 in Las Vegas, is up in the air following an arrest warrant being put out for light heavyweight champion Jon "Bones" Jones, who is scheduled to defend his title against Anthony "Rumble" Johnson. New Mexico police had named Jones a suspect in a three-way car crash that injured a pregnant woman, and at 5:30 p.m. Monday arrested him at the Winrock Shopping Center  in Alburquerque.

Jones was seen fleeing the scene of the accident on foot, and then returning later to grab cash, which he stuffed in his pants, and then leaving a second time. A police spokesman said they were seeking a felony charge because an injured party, a 25-year-old pregnant woman, suffered a broken arm in the crash.

Inside the car, police found marijuana and a marijuana pipe, along with rental paperwork that had Jones' name on it as well as his phone number. Prior to Jones' January title defense vs. Daniel Cormier he had tested positive for cocaine. He checked into rehab, but left after just one day.

The UFC released a statement that read , "We are aware that the Albuquerque Police Department is interested in speaking to Jon Jones regarding his possible involvement in a motor vehicle accident. We are in the process of gathering facts and will reserve further comment until more information is available."

The statement made no mention of Jones' status for UFC 187 against Johnson, and there are not many suitable candidates available to replace Jones on the card. Two of the UFC's top heavyweights, Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson, are not only coming off losses to Jones and Johnson, respectively, in their last fights, they're also scheduled to headline June fight cards. Another name fighter, Phil "Mr. Wonderful" Davis, just left the UFC for Bellator.
