One such team is the Dallas Cowboys. After the weeks of rumors about a possible Adrian Peterson trade, it was widely assumed that the team would draft a running back at some point this weekend. However, they focused heavily on defense and the offensive line, and they never did select a ballcarrier.
The team obviously believes that the offensive line was the main key to the dominant running game that they featured last year, but could Jerry Jones also have another surprise up his sleeve?

When the Vikings still had Peterson on the roster at the end of the first round of the draft, many figured that it meant that the team was steadfastly refusing to deal him, which they have said was their preference all along.
But now that free agency and the draft are done with, teams needing to fill roster holes may get desperate, and with Dallas's apparent hole at running back, a trade could still happen.
Peterson is known to be fond of Dallas, and Jones is known to love star players and making headlines. Bringing AP to Big D would seem like an ideal fit for everyone, assuming the Cowboys are willing to absorb Peterson's massive salary.
A deal still seems unlikely, particularly now that compensation will be more of an issue, so it seems probable that AP will be toting the rock for the Vikings this fall. But where there is a glimmer of hope, there is still a chance for Jerry Jones to shake things up.
