La'el Collins Murder Case Update: LSU Prospect Says He Has A 'Solid Alibi,' Rex Ryan Chatting Him Up [VIDEO]

LSU tackle La'el Collins was a first-round talent who fell out of the NFL Draft entirely because police in Louisiana wanted to talk about a murder involving his pregnant ex-girlfriend Brittney Mills. The child survived the attack, and it hasn't been released to the public whether or not Collins is the child's father.

Police said that Collins was not a suspect in the case, and he met with police on Monday and is still not considered a suspect. Speaking for the first time, Collins said he has a very solid alibi for when Mills was killed in Baton Rouge.

Collins said he was with family and friends in New Orleans watching the Pelicans' playoff game vs. the Golden State Warriors when Mills was shot. Per reports, Collins has calls and texts proving he planned the trip to the Pelicans game and is confident GPS tracking on his phone can prove his whereabouts. Collins also said he hadn't spoken to Mills in months.

NFL teams that were scared of investing a high pick into a player involved, even tangentially, with a murder investigation now might be more bold in pursuing him as an undrafted free agent. Collins recently met with Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan.

Buffalo's offensive line ranked 26th in the NFL in the run game per FootballOutsiders.com in 2014, although it might be noted their ranking was pulled down by placing 30th in second-level yardage. That might be a product of relying heavily on power backs Fred Jackson and Anthony Dixon for much of the season. The line was mediocre in the passing game as well, ranking just 20th and allowing 39 sacks.
