Kyrie Irving Denies He's Unhappy, Wants Out In Cleveland

Cleveland Cavaliers star guard Kyrie Irving is denying growing rumors he is disenchanted with the organization and perhaps planning to seek greener pastures elsewhere once his rookie contract expires.

With two years remaining on his rookie deal, CBS Sports reported earlier this week some are already speculating Irving will attempt to broker his way out of town at that point rather than sign a five-year rookie extension with the Cavs.

“I’m a Cavalier right now and I’m happy to be a Cavalier,” Irving told Sports Illustrated this week while taking part in the first day of USA’s Basketball mini cap in Las Vegas. “I kind of had a sarcastic approach to the rumor because it was kind of just a rumor starter. That kind of stuff I don’t even pay attention to. Right now, I’m a Cleveland Cavalier and I’m happy to be here.”

As part of a plan to make certain Irving stays so engaged, the Cavs added All-Star center Andrew Bynum in free agency this summer, signing the oft-injured big man to a two year, $24 million dead.

In Bynum, Irving arguably now has the biggest co-star he’s ever suited up with as a member of the Cavs, who also used the first pick of the NBA Draft to add high-scoring UNLV forward Anthony Bennett.
