Larry Johnson, Ex Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro Running Back, Escapes Jail Time In Domestic Abuse Case

Former NFL running back Larry Johnson has agreed to a plea deal with Las Vegas prosecutors that will result in him not doing any jail time related to a 2012 domestic abuse case.

Johnson was charged with choking an ex-girlfriend during a dispute at the Bellagio Hotel. At the time, the woman claimed Johnson attacked and choked her so violently she lost consciousness and suffered shortness of breath.

According to TMZ, when security arrived at his room on the night in question the former Kansas City Chiefs star was still fuming and threatened guards “I’ll rip your f----ng vocal cords out.”

In pleading no contest to misdemeanor domestic battery and assault, Johnson was sentenced to a year’s probation, 48 hours of community service and six months of counseling classes. He will also be required to pay a $345 fine.

Directly following the incident, Johnson told TMZ he never touched the woman and she was just an old acquaintance who would not leave his hotel room after a night of partying at a nearby nightclub. Johnson says the woman began to kick and slap him as he tried to remove her from his room.

"I know people will try to pass judgment on me from my previous record but I didn't do what I am being charged with," he told TMZ.
