Jackie Chan, Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz Added To Cast Of Expendables 3; Rush Hour Star To Attend African Cup Martial Arts Tournament In Madagascar

Sylvester Stallone's shoot-em-up action movie franchise The Expendables has added some new members to the gang. Martial arts star Jackie Chan, mixed martial arts champion Ronda Rousey, and former welterweight boxing champ Victor Ortiz are expected to be on screen in the latest film, as is former Blade star Wesley Snipes.

Rousey and Ortiz were confirmed by Stallone on Twitter, when he sent out this message: "Ronda Rousey will show championship form in Expendables 3! So will multi champion Victor Ortiz!"

Rousey's profile has risen these days with her success in the UFC, and her role as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter. Her manager, Darin Harvey said of his client:

"Common sense will tell you you're looking at a young, beautiful girl that's headlining main events, that people are interested. Ronda has star power. Anyone in the film business can look at this and tell it's a great opportunity not only for Ronda, but it's a great opportunity for themselves."

Stallone said the film needed some "young bloods," who are believed to have greater roles than the new cast members added to Expendables 2. The newcomers this time around are tech-oriented, according to a source close to the film, who experience initial friction with the old guard.

The old guard consists of Sly Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture and Terry Crews. Other rumored stars to be joining the movie that have either been ruled out or awaiting confirmation are Kellan Lutz, Steven Seagal, Mel Gibson, Nicolas Cage and Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich.

Expendables 3 is set to hit theaters on August 15th, 2014.  In the meantime, Chan will be attending the Kung Fu Wushu African Cup, a martial arts tournament in Madagascar.

Jose Ramaherison, a member of the Malagasy Federation, who is also known as Master Gao, expressed excitement about the tournament saying, "Madagascar has been making a lot of effort to host the African Cup since 2009. The dream will finally come true this year."

Reports have it that six Shaolins from Chinese temples will perform at this prestigious tournament.
