Jameis Winston Rumors: FSU Legend Called Him An 'Embarrassment' Says Seminoles 'Glad He's Gone? [VIDEO]

The Florida State Seminoles are going to enter the 2015 season with a new starting quarterback taking the snaps. After calling the shots for the last two seasons, Jameis Winston declared for the NFL Draft this year, where he went first overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The former Heisman winner has left some big shoes to fill in Tallahassee.

But according to TMZ, not everyone is upset about seeing Winston leave, despite the fact that he was a great player. Winston did great things on the field, and he led FSU to their first national title in over a decade during his time in school, but legendary former Seminoles head coach Bobby Bowden says that many people are relieved not to have to deal with Winston anymore.

Bowden, who is now 85 years old, was doing a radio interview earlier this week when the subject turned to Winston and the litany of off-the-field issues that surrounded him in college, including the BB gun incident, the stolen crab legs, and his sexual assault charges.

"Well, I think it's a consensus among Florida State fans and boosters that he was an embarrassment in a lot of ways to the University," said Bowden.

That is a strong statement coming from anyone, but to hear it from a living legend that coached at a football factory like FSU about one of their best players... that is something else entirely.

There is no doubt that Winston was largely responsible for a lot of the negative publicity that the university received over the past couple of years, and he very nearly did not go first overall because of his personal history. The Buccaneers spent countless man hours vetting the young quarterback to make sure that he would not make them regret spending the top pick on him.

Perhaps he will get himself straightened out in the NFL. Either way, FSU is glad that he is someone else's problem now.
