Dolphins Football Rumors: 'Jonathan Martin Was Suicidal,' Ex-Coach Bashes Ted Wells

The New England Patriots aren't the only ones who have a gripe with NFL independent investigator Ted Wells.

Wells was hired by the league to investigate the bullying allegations made by former Miami Dolphins tackle Jonathan Martin in 2013. A lengthy investigation led to a report stating that several players had been harassing Martin. The repercussions of the report led to loss of employment—none greater than offensive line coach Jim Turner, who was fired after two seasons with the team.

Turner pulled no punches on Thursday, unloading on Wells during an interview with SiriusXM's Mad Dog Sports Radio.

"Independent investigator my [expletive]," Turner said (via CBS Sports). "Wells is not a good human being. When I did not give him the story he wanted, he targeted me as a part of a problem in Miami. He's not an independent investigator. He's not looking at both sides of the situation."

The inference Turner made during his interview had everything to do with the Martin's suicidal thoughts being left out of Wells' report.

"When somebody says that to you [being suicidal], there's a whole new realm you're in with that human being," he added. "And so I said, 'Jon, when's the last time—if this isn't the first time you thought of suicide—when's the time you thought about it prior to this?'"

According to Turner, the answer to that question was just three months earlier.

"He said, 'Three months ago at my dad's house in California and I was sitting on my dad's coach,'" Turner explained. "I said, 'Does your dad have a gun, Jon?' He said, 'Yeah.' I said, 'Did you you have it in your hands?' He said, 'Yeah.' I said, 'Did you put it up to your head, Jon?' He said, 'Yes.'"

"I told Wells all of this stuff."

Unsurprisingly, Turner is in support of Tom Brady's decision to appeal his four-game suspension.

"One thing that stands out to me is just how smart Tom Brady is," Turner said. "He didn't trust the Wells report. He didn't trust Wells. If he did, then he would have complied a little more."
