Floyd Mayweather Jr. Next Fight: Manny Pacquiao Was 'Put On A Pedestal,' Should Be Blamed For Dull Bout [VIDEO]

Floyd Mayweather Jr. passed the blame to Manny Pacquiao, whom he beat on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, for not providing entertainment worthy of the exorbitant pay-per-view and ticket prices.

In a recent radio interview Mayweather said fans' expectations of Pacquiao were too great, and it is not his fault they mistakenly took him as a real threat to the undefeated welterweight king.

"Everyone wants to say that the fight didn't live up to expectations. I did what I always do," Mayweather said. "I'm a smart, defensive wizard. I take my time, I pick my shots. And the thing is this: I've been around this sport a very long time, I know what I'm doing when I'm inside that squared circle. Everyone put this guy (Pacquiao) on a pedestal."

"If people want to be upset, be upset with the guy that couldn't set the trap for Floyd Mayweather. Be upset with the guy that used to throw 1,000 punches but then resorted to throwing 400 punches."

After the fight Pacquiao said he thought he won, a perception few but he held. The judges scored the fight for Mayweather by a wide margin, while the commentary team, consisting of commentators from both Showtime and HBO, were in agreement Mayweather clearly won. In his post-fight interview, Pacquiao said all Mayweather did was "move on the outside."

In the post fight press conference, Pacquiao then said he fought with an injured shoulder; days later it was reported he fought with a torn right rotator cuff and required surgery that will keep him out of action until 2016.

In his radio interview Mayweather made no apologies for how he fought, given the price of the pay-per-view.

"When my career is over I want to have all my faculties. I want to be sharp," Mayweather, who said he is retiring after his next fight, said.

"The name of the game is boxing, this is not called toe-to-toe battle. It's called boxing. I'm the best at boxing. That's what I do. Every move is calculated; very smart fighter. I take my time and go out there and do what I do best. ... When we long gone and people get to talking about this fight or my career they'll say "Floyd beat them all."

Mayweather is expected to fight again in September, with Amir Khan leading the pack to be his opponent.
