Eugenie Bouchard Career Falling Apart? French Open Exit Her Worst Majors Effort [VIDEO]

Eugenie Bouchard is starting another losing streak.

The Canadian and sixth-ranked player in the world lost her opening-round match at the French Open on Tuesday, falling to No. 44 Kristina Mladenovic 6-4, 6-4 in the first round. Bouchard made it to the semifinals last year.

It's her 10th loss in her last 13 matches after she reached the quarterfinals at the Australian Open in January. Her exit at Roland Garros marks her earliest departure from a major and has her baffled over how to fix her game.

"I don't know what to say," she said, according to The Guardian. "It's been kind of the same as how I have been feeling recently on the court. Just not like myself. I felt I was in the match. But, tennis-wise, I still knew I was far off from how well I can play."

Eugenie Bouchard compares her struggles to those of Tiger Woods.

Bouchard, who entered the French Open No. 6 in the world and is sure to fall in the rankings after the second Grand Slam of the year concludes, just ended a five-match losing streak with a second-round victory at the Italian Masters before falling in the third round to 10th-seeded Carla Suarez Navarro.

"It's important to try to move on quickly in tennis because every Monday there is a new chance," Bouchard said, according to The Guardian.

'So I'm going to try to forget this one. Hopefully the grass will be good for me. The plan is to go and play and play a couple of warmup tournaments [before Wimbledon]."

ESPN reported that Bouchard sounds resigned to playing subpar tennis.

"I feel like I have been trying to work on what's been going wrong, and I feel like I have been making progress,'' she said. "So to still have matches like this is actually disappointing. But, I mean, at the same time it's just a tennis match and, you know, I need to not worry too much. Life is still good. Everyone has highs and lows in their career. This is a little bit of a low point for me.''
